Turning musical talent into market success

Most music marketing advice comes from people who have never loaded a van, haggled over a guarantee, or watched a merch table sit untouched at the end of a long night.

Mine comes from a different place.

For years I balanced a full-time career with my real passion — playing music and figuring out, largely by accident, how to build a real audience around it. I taught myself digital marketing, Meta ads, email automation, graphic design, and e-commerce not because I planned to — but because my music projects needed it and I was not willing to stay invisible.

It worked. Crowds grew. Merch sold. Email lists turned into real revenue. And somewhere along the way, the same question kept coming up from other musicians — "How are you doing this? Who set up your store? Who runs your marketing?"

I heard it enough times to take it seriously.

When my career in education ended in late 2025, I made a decision. The skills I had spent years developing — and the results I had spent years proving — were worth more than a side project. Backline Media & Marketing became the full-time focus.

I built this agency for the musicians I have always been surrounded by — talented, hardworking, and completely undersupported on the business side. Not because they are not capable, but because nobody ever taught them this part.

That is what we do here. We teach it. We build it. And for the bands ready to hand it off entirely — we run it.

We are not marketers who stumbled into music. We are musicians who figured out marketing — because we had to. We know what it feels like to play to an empty room, watch merch sit unsold, and wonder why the right people are not finding you. That experience is not just our backstory. It is why everything we do actually works.

Every decision we make — every campaign we run, every system we build — is evaluated against one question: did it move the needle for the artist? Vanity metrics are easy to manufacture. Real results are harder to fake. We are only interested in the second kind.
